Meet The Accordions!

Picture
Ruth & I met while working at an art supply store in lovely midtown Sacramento, California in early 2008.  We fell madly in love and married the following October after a brief, whirlwind romance.  We began quilting together the following year and Two Accordions was born.  We are very happy to share our passion for quilting with you and hope you will enjoy our blankets and accessories that reflect both our love for each other and the home arts as well.

What We do

Aside from livin', lovin', and quiltin', we are all about the process of design.  A new quilt starts with inspiration and quick rough sketches.  It then gets refined by using good ol' graph paper and micron pens.  Once it is drafted to scale, the fabric is selected, washed, dried, and ironed.  The quilt top parts are cut to size, sewn together, and meticulously ironed flat.  Our treasured tool, the longarm, is used to quilt the three layers together (the top, batting, and muslin) in what is called a "free-motion" technique (no computerized templates, it's all manipulated  by hand, as if drawing with a sewing machine).  And, we finish our quilt by assembling and fastening the binding with our sewing machine.

Our quilts are heirloom quality, but don't stick them in the attic or a trunk!  Our quilts are made to be used and loved.  And, if properly cared for, will last for years and years.
